Time for this week’s weekly blog for the White Sox rebuild! Check out our minor league report for 05/31/17

Last Week’s Recap

Tyler Danish got called up to make a spot start in a double header against Detroit. He was phenomenal as he shut out the Tigers for only 3 hits. Unfortunately, the Sox still wanna ride the Covey/Pelfrey bandwagon, cause he was sent back to Charlotte immediately after the game.

Class A – Winston Salem Dash

Zack Collins – C (2016 RD 1): Collins pushed his meager average up 5 points to .226 by collecting 5 hits and a HR last week. But the 4 additional walks he earned got his OBP now up to .395

Class AA – Birmingham Barons

Michael Kopech – P (2014 RD 1): Kopech was finally able to put up back to back 1 run gems last week. He K’d 6 more and now has a 2.66 ERA with a 65/27 SO-BB ratio.

Class AAA – Charlotte Knights

Yoan Moncada – 2B (Cuba): After a week on the DL with an injured thumb, Moncada struggled by only collecting 3 hits while striking out 6 more times. Despite that, he still has a .320 BA and .400 OBP. Look for him to bounce back this week.

Cody Asche – LF (2011 RD 4): Remember this asshole? The guy who DH for the Sox to start the season and hit only .107? Yea, well this clown is now hitting .393 since being sent down. SMDH. 3 HR, 9 RBI. 1 Grand Slam. Where was this production back in April? Let’s hope the Sox don’t get fooled again in bringing him up until he can prove he can do this for a couple more months.

Carson Fulmer – P (2015 RD 1): Carson Fulmer is trying to pitch his way out of a call-up! After a stellar start to the season, his fall continues. His last start saw him gave up 6 ER and walked 4 more. He’s gone from a 2.72 ERA to a 4.89 in 3 starts. Don’t look for Fulmer anytime soon.

Reynaldo Lopez – P (Dominican): Lopez must be trying to stick around with Fulmer, cause he had an even WORSE start last week. 8 ER in 4 IP saw his ERA jump up to 4.08 from 2.94. The Sox were most likely going to make him the first call up this summer, but he needs to get back on track soon, or we won’t see him until the September call-ups

Lucas Giolito – P (2012 RD 1): Welcome back to the blog Lucas Giolito! And it only took a NO HITTER to get you there! As I’m sure all you Sox fans heard, Last Thursday, Giolito pitched a no-no in a 7 inning game! The former #1 prospect showed he still has electric stuff and dropped his ERA down to 5.44. Seeing how it was 7.33 a couple weeks ago, I’ll take it. Let’s see how his start goes tonight.

Zack Burdi – RP (2016 RD 1): Burdi was tagged for 5 runs on Saturday. Oof. But seeing how that was still 1 more than hes given up for the ENTIRE SEASON at that point, I’d say its safe to say he will forget that outing and bounce back next game.

Matt Purke – RP (2011 RD 3): After giving up a run for the first time since April 15th last week, Purke gave up 5 more last week. Let’s hope that this current trend doesn’t continue.
